Love should be cherished. Instead many of us take it for granted or destroy it all together. Real love, the most amazing love is the most difficult of all. It requires sacrifice, negotiation, patience, and perseverance. It also requires luck.
John- I'm a dad's worse nightmare. A player, a gangsta and a convict. I destroy sweet innocent girls. I don't love. I don't connect and I sure as hell don't share my feelings. I fuck. Prison has a way of changing a man and for once I am considering settling down. Life is full of choices. Some good , some bad. I chose to protect Rachel, but I chose the wrong girl to settle with. Rachel- I'm damaged. Broken, impaired, unstable. It doesn't matter how you say it. I am unworthy. Unworthy of lasting love. I'm not sure I even know what real love looks like. My parents aren't the best examples. My dad is a workaholic and my mom is a mentally ill drug addict. My love life needs all the luck it can get. Love is hard to find when you are closed off afraid to let anyone in your crazy life.
Eli- Good guys always finish last. Hell, I can't say I've been 100% good but I would reform my wandering way for one chance with Rachel. One chance to fix my pretty broken girl. One chance to make her mine. I don't mind competition but I'll be damned if John gets another chance to hurt her.

I loved Eli and Rachel's relationship, I was 100% Team Eli. I freaking hated John, it was difficult to believe that he loves Rachel because he only wanted her because his first choice (who I almost liked for kind of doing to him what he did to Rachel) turned out not to be the type of woman he believed her to be. If not for that, I doubt he would have ended up regretting not choosing Rachel.Product details

Basically, this is a story of an 18 year old girl trying to choose wisely between two men for her future. Rachel has not had a loving childhood and is unsure if love is anything more than a fairy tale. She looks to her mind and heart for guidance. On the one hand, there is Eli. He is nice and makes her feel special, cherished, safe. Her mind constantly declares he is the wiser and safer choice. Eli is dependable BUT physically, there are no sparks, she would be settling. On the other hand, there is John and just a thought about him or a look on his body sets her body aflame. Rachel's heart definitely is drawn toward him BUT her heart is gripped by fear. She meets him while he is in prison; he has a reputation for criminal activity, booze and women. In fact, John makes a foolish mistake that causes Rachel's heart to freeze, unable to trust him. Things happen, friends get involved, tragedy occurs, life gets complicated. Her mind plays referee between her body and her heart. So, who will she choose? Three stars.
